Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of management, the GTS Account Protege participates in the comprehensive training curriculum of the GTS Protege Program. Duties will include estimating damages, supervising third-party consultants, analyzing insurance policies, evaluating claim documentation, extensive report writing, and communicating with policyholders and insurance professionals. Progression through training will lead to investigating and settling complex claims, while also actively engaging in marketing and sales efforts.

Responsibilities
    Participate in a rigorous training program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on field experience alongside experienced GTS adjusters, engineers, consultants, sales representatives, managers, and accountants.
  • Complete the AIC designation and acquire appropriate state licenses.
  • Assist National General Adjusters and Executive General Adjusters in handling complex losses through job shadowing.
  • Shadow GTS account adjusters to learn about account adjusting process.
  • Participate in thorough investigations of complex claims, developing proficiency in prompt and equitable claim settlement.
  • Travel to claims, industry events and/or client meetings as needed (expect 25-50% travel in first year).
  • Examine claim forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine coverages.
  • Investigate claims through interviews, obtaining official reports, inspecting physical damage, and comparing claim information with evidence.
  • Prepare reports summarizing information required by clients, local, state and federal government, and Crawford & Company.
  • Settle claims based on insurance carrier liability, client instructions, and authority levels, including issuing settlement checks, making regulatory filings, disposing of salvage, and pursuing subrogation when appropriate.
  • Control claim costs and participate in negotiations as necessary.
  • Handle production goals upon completion of training.
  • Maintain company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.
  • Utilize available technology/automation to maximize claim handling efficiency.
  • Conduct roof inspections as needed.
  • Uphold the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
  • Participate in special projects or perform duties in other areas as requested.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, insurance, risk management, business, construction management, environmental design /science, or equivalent experience required.
  • While direct experience in property adjusting is not required, candidates with relevant experience will be considered favorably.
  • Must be licensed as required by state and local jurisdictions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must complete all continuing education and graduation requirements of the GTS Protege Program to advance.
  • Agrees to obtain Associate in Claims (AIC) and other relevant designations as part of the training program.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and team members simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information, determine a course of action and implement it effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex issues.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
