Job Description

General Description/Purpose:

The primary responsibility of the CNC Lead is to oversee and run the operation of CNC machines for the purpose of producing parts as required per customer-supplied drawings, while also providing guidance and support to the CNC Operators. The CNC Lead will ensure that production goals are met efficiently and safely, maintaining high-quality standards.


Job Duties (including but not limited to):

* Administer the operation of CNC machines, ensuring all parts meet specified dimensions and tolerance levels.

* Supervise and assist in the assembly, repair, and fabrication of metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.

* Lead a team of CNC Operators, including scheduling, training, and managing performance.

* Use blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.

* Collaborate with the Machining & Programming Manager to improve processes and implement new techniques for increased efficiency.

* Ensure all safety protocols are followed and that the team is equipped with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

* Assist in the training of new CNC Operators.

* Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on CNC machines as required.


Work Schedule:

The work schedule is typically a fixed schedule: 3:00p.m. - 11:45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch. Flexibility is required as some days and weekend work may be required as determined by business needs.


Essential Knowledge/Skills:

* Advanced knowledge of CNC machine operation and maintenance.

* Ability to read, interpret, and implement complex drawings and specifications.

* Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, guide, and motivate a team.

* Proficient computer skills.

* Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with team members and management.

* Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.

Qualification Standards:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; technical or vocational training preferred.

* A minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machine operation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

* Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is essential.
