Strategic Sourcing Managers (SSMs) routinely interact with C-level Hanger and supplier executives, negotiating and presenting innovative sourcing strategies and solutions that create sustainable, long-term return on investment. SSMs are highly effective communicators, who are comfortable selling the value of strategic sourcing to internal clients across lines of business.

Categories under management for this role include: (Indirect Materials and Services, Prosthetics, Orthotics, Shoes and Inserts, Bulk / Raw Components)

Your Impact

HYBRID ROLE: Office/Remote

    Able to dive deep across multiple business lines who use similar categories and commodities to leverage our supplier base to optimize performance, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Earn trust with internal business partners; establish enduring relationship, build a robust understanding of product category, strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across suppliers and/or spend categories.
  • Develop sourcing strategies to deliver improved patient outcomes, manage risk and achieve business plans.
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the Strategic Sourcing strategy development process.
  • Drive results by utilizing spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.
  • Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, optimizing the return on investment and total cost of ownership.
  • Serve as an advisor, facilitator, and educator to internal stakeholders on developing and executing sourcing strategies.
  • Implement sourcing strategies to achieve key business goals: COM reduction, Lead-time reduction, supply continuity and product life cycle management.
  • Responsible for total supplier performance: measure and manage vs. key targets, compliance to agreements and implementing improvement roadmaps to address gaps.
  • Recommend Make-versus-Buy strategy on long-term basis for selected commodities.
  • Maintain and provide current understanding on industry and technology trends for the assigned categories.
  • Acting as interface between suppliers and business regarding tactical issues, pricing, quality while maintaining continuity of supply by taking ownership of tactical issues, facilitating work through others, and driving the team to closure
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, to include at minimum, 5 years in an indirect procurement function.
  • 10+ years of experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (strategic sourcing management, benchmarking, Make / Buy models, contracting, etc.).
  • 7+ years of experience in developing category plans and sourcing one or more commodities.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team.
  • A valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
Additional Success Factors
  • Proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
  • Expert understanding of, and deep experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Experience working in a patient care organization and works easily in multi-business unit project settings; able to facilitate teamwork across functional boundaries.
  • Proven written and oral communicator, with strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills to act as an effective change agent, unlocking barriers to create value.
  • Embraces data driven decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modeling.
  • Act with integrity in all ways and at all times, remaining honest, transparent, and respectful in all relationships.
