* Serve as a resource to the mother-baby nurse regarding the care of the newborn
* Responsible for observation of babies while in the nursery
* Communicate and collaborate with pediatricians and neonatologists in the care of the newborns
* Perform and assist in special procedures for the baby (blood cultures, diagnostic workups, angle tolerance tests, etc.)
* Assists physicians with circumcisions and oversees baby immediately post-procedure
* Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers of newborns to and from the unit

1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.

2. Minimum of 2 years' full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training in Level I, II or III nursery; newborn; NICU and/or Mother/Baby units.

3. Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation

4. Newborn admission assessment experience

5. Proof of annual continuing education credits and/or hours in newborn care; minimum of 16 hours/credits within the past 2 years.

6. Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

1. BSN degree in Nursing preferred

2. National Certification in Clinical Specialty preferred

3. Other preferred RN attributes are unit specific.
