About the Job:

The Director of Operations plays a critical role in streamlining operations, reducing costs, and ensuring that products are delivered to customers in a timely and efficient manner. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with executive management and other high-profile audiences with a high level of diplomacy and professionalism. This includes but is not limited to various Odyssey leadership as well as Customers and Carriers. The Director of Operations will be requested by executive management from time to time to make presentations, be assigned special projects, and oversee the implementation of departmental changes.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency of logistics operations.
  • Confidently problem solve and manage exceptions with minimal client disruption.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure world class customer service, drive efficiency, and execute new strategies for increased growth and profitability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, carriers, and other partners to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
  • Assist in the coordination and support the implementation of new contractual accounts.
  • Assist in the coordination and support the implementation of new solutions and enhancements within the organization
  • Implement and leverage technology solutions, such as logistics management software and tracking systems, to enhance visibility, accuracy, and efficiency in logistics operations..
  • Gain competency and become a subject matter expert with Odyssey's technology platforms.
  • Gain competency and become a subject matter expert with Odyssey's service offerings and capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements. Mitigate risks related to logistics operations.
  • Lead and manage a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly assess and report on the performance of logistics operations. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the logistics department, encouraging innovation and adaptation to evolving industry trends.

Required:

  • Masters/bachelor's degree or at least 5 years management experience in the transportation industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts in the transportation industry.
  • Should have a broad knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Excellent working knowledge of logistics and LTL transportation documents, terminology, and principles
  • Ability to utilize reporting tools to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple critical projects simultaneously. Good analytical skills are important.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, e-mail and Internet.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, particularly when dealing with a variety of people and situations.
  • Excellent team building and leadership skills.
  • Will be required to travel.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with an attention to detail.
  • Application of prioritization techniques to efficiently analyze and resolve problems.
  • Willingness to assist other team members to meet customer requirements.

This is an in-office role based in Kennesaw, GA.
