Performs as a cross trained multi functional team member of the office practice. Ensures accurate and timely charge capture and billing of office visits and inpatient charges, front office assistant responsibilities, precertification, scheduling or other administrative functions as assigned. Responsible for collecting physician and technical superbills/rounding sheets daily. Enters and verifies patient demographics and insurance information. Verifies medical benefits and obtains preauthorization. Cross trained in the billing process cycle to include charge capture, insurance, collections and payment processing including outsourced receivables.

REQUIRED:


1. 2 year experience in a clerical environment, preferably in a healthcare environment.

2. High School diploma or equivalent.

3. Ability to read and understand a medical record chart.

4. Basic typing skills

5. Knowledge of current ICD-9 and CPT codes

6. Ability to manage time of self and others.

7. Basic math skills

PREFERRED:


Experience in a medical office setting.
