Job Description:

NOTE - Open to location.

As a National Accounts Manager for the Retails Sales team, you will oversee our relationships with major retail accounts and supporting rep companies, concentrating on in-store product offerings and promotions, on our alignment with outside rep companies / sales teams, and on the development of and tracking of annuals sales revenues in terms of fiscal year plan / budget against actuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers across retail customer accounts, serving as liaison with customer departments (purchasing/procurement, inventory, accounts payable, receiving, etc).
  • Create and track annual sales revenue budget / forecast for all accounts at the SKU level. Communicate monthly account status / results and key initiative performance to internal stakeholders. Meet or exceed targets for profitable sales growth, profit contribution, and strategic objectives within the retail category by customer.
  • Build structured, sustainable programs (trade shows, Spring booking, promotions, etc) in conjunction with internal partners (finance, supply chain, product management, marketing, etc) that result in profitable long term sales growth, while providing significant value to the end customer, including but not limited to, pricing, profitable contract negotiations, program/promotion approvals, product line reviews (PLR) with customers, annual customer meetings, etc).
  • Support customer buying shows, along with respective rep agencies, to enhance consultative selling efforts.
  • Drive rep agency / company performance through the development of annual and quarterly plans with a keen focus on initiative, strategies, and customer needs.
  • Utilize online portals for key accounts / customers through management of online content, pull shipments, data forecasting, fines/penalties, etc.
  • Influence product transition costs favorably, including markdown/buyback, displays, returns, and logistics, including new product introductions.
  • Guide comprehensive product line reviews with each customer.
  • Apply financial understanding to achieve favorable outcomes while minimizing costs for the business unit and for retailer accounts / customers.
  • Manage and report out all customer item forecasts, service levels, shipment & rebate information, accounts receivable past due and delinquency reports, etc, monthly to ensure sales and profitability goals are met, if not exceeded.
  • Engage cross functionally and build effective relationships with all internal partners / departments, including product management and marketing, regarding all open projects, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Research, develop, and provide direct descriptions of market opportunities and propose effective solutions, while merging the needs of the organization with the requests / needs of the customers.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute annual training meetings for sales team when possible.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or related field; or experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5-10 years of business experience, including 2-4 years of national account management experience.
  • Proven experience reviewing market conditions and competition; and devising strategic responses.
  • Understanding of Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, with comprehension of account level financial metrics and profitability.
  • Effective project management and coordination skills for multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to think conceptually, analytically, independently, collaboratively, and strategically
  • Proven experience implementing sales strategies and creating effective sales presentations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Superior verbal, written, and virtual communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 40% overnight travel
